Cactus Garden - Panchkula
Officially known as National Cactus and Succulent Botanical Garden and Research Centre, the garden is Asia’s biggest garden devoted to rare and endangered species having more than 3,500 species. Genus Caralluma of Indian origin are seen here with some of the endangered species. Collection of Indian succulents here is considered the largest in the world.
Morni is a village tourist attraction about an hours drive from Ramgarh. The Morni Hills are offshoots of the Shivalik range of the Himalayas, which run in two parallel ranges. The village of Morni lies on the mountainside, at 1,220 metres (4,000 ft) above mean sea level. Tikkar Taal is a cluster of interconnected lakes offering limited adventure options.
Ramgarh is a 300 year old village with a network of alleys and pathways. Houses adorn both sides of the streets and paths. Till date a lot of households continue to carry out family trades passed down from generations to generations. One must look out for the odd workshop making something unique, you never know what one may chance upon.
Rock Garden - Chandigarh
Created in the 1970’s by artist Sh. Nek Chand it is indeed a fascinating amalgam of nature’s marvels and man’s creativity. The world-acclaimed Rock Garden, dotted with sculptures created from scrap materials and unusual rock formations, is Chandigarh’s pride. Created from discarded concrete and tiles, this is a unique garden, a must visit.
Sukhna Lake - Chandigarh
A man made wonder, Sukhna Lake is an idyllic retreat for a communion with nature. The well-paved promenade, meandering along the banks of the lake, is ideal for a jog or walk along the soft and shimmering waters while the lush lawns are perfect to enjoy the soothing setting. Boating facilities are also available.
Zakir Rose Garden - Chandigarh
The pretty Zakir Rose Garden, named after India’s illustrious former President Dr. Zakir Hussain, is Asia’s largest rose garden. The Rose Garden is dotted with more than 17,000 rose bushes embracing 1,600 species and dramatic colour fountains. The fragrant garden is the venue of the annual Festival of Gardens or Rose Festival, and offers a truly soothing experience to the senses.
